Chapman Prepares Actors for the Entertainment Industry

“Chapman University features two BFA acting degrees, the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance and the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Screen Acting.  As part of the BFA professional degree, in their fourth year, actors experience a year-long journey into the business of acting and the entertainment industry of Los Angeles.  Dubbed the “entrepreneurial year”, actors spend time in workshops with agents, managers, and casting directors.  Actors also perform in and produce a showcase in Los Angeles, California.  This is a vital part of launching a career in the entertainment industry, a chance for BFA students to get out in front of LA’s stage, film, and television professionals.  Each year, casting directors, agents, managers, and producers attend the BFA Actor Showcase held in Los Angeles.  Students not only perform in this showcase but learn to network with Los Angeles professionals.  Last year, 11 of the 14 students had meetings with professionals in Los Angeles, and some students were offered representation from those meetings.  We invite you to join us for this year’s acting showcase where all students from both degree programs perform selected film and stage scenes in a one of kind showcase event.”

Professor Kelly Galindo Joins Professor Jonathan Pope Evans for BFA Showcase 2014

“I am passionate about encouraging students to discover a level of truth in their work,” says Kelly Galindo. “And to enjoy the creative process & journey in being an ‘artist’.”
After graduation, Galindo worked with pop music icon, Tiffany, working as a dancer and choreographer before setting her sights on acting. She attended the Lee Strasberg Institute, where she studied method acting under Anna Strasberg and Heddy Sontag. She soon was cast in many independent films and guest starred on hot television series, such as General Hospital, Mad TV, Alias, and ER.
Today, Galindo manages to balance her successful acting career while passing on her craft to future generations, both here at Dodge College, at UCLA, and through the private classes she teaches at her company, KG Productions. She says, “I am passionate about encouraging both artists and actors’ directors and to help them bring a new level of truth to their work.”
Professor Pope Evans is excited to have Kelly join the BFA Showcase team for Showcase 2014!
